About Us
Adaptec Medical Devices was founded in 2015 with the goal of creating a simple, practical way of automating urine output measurement. The result was Sensica UO – a system which provides accurate, ongoing UO measurement with the ability to transmit data directly to an EHR – using any standard Foley catheter and urine collection products.
To facilitate both critical care and OR urine output measurement requirements, two versions of the system were developed: the Sensica® UO System/ICU and the Sensica® UO System/OR. The Sensica UO system/ICU is now used in many hospitals throughout the U.S. and the OR version will be introduced in Q4, 2018. In addition, Adaptec is in final stages of development on a body temperature monitor module, as an add-on feature for both systems. This will also be available in the latter part of 2018.
Building on the successful launch of Sensica UO in the United States, Adaptec intends to begin distribution in Europe, Latin America, and other parts of the world in 2019.
Adaptec is a privately held organization located in the research triangle area of NC, with a patent issued and patent pending on the Sensica UO technology.

The capstone of the Sensica UO system is the single patient use, Sensica® UO Collection Bag Ring. A simple, clockwise connection initiates a self-calibration routine that ensure accurate measurement recording, every time.
